What is the Mechanism of Action for Warfarin?

Warfarin reduces blood clotting by eliminating and decreasing the amount of active vitamin k in the bloodstream. The patient; Anna, has been suffering from varying forms of illness relating to her advanced age, and other symptoms that come with the amount of medication she is taking. The monetization of her medication should be taken into account, along with any other form of outside food and beverages. This would be in direct relation to the fact that she ingested grapefruit juice. Ensuring that a patient of any caliber is under a watchful eye, and receiving the necessary fluids, balance medication, and medical supervision based on their weight and physiology is imperative for implementation of said medication.

It is also important to record this data, because it needs to be shared with other medical facilities, training institutions and practitioners. (Smith, 1990) There are many factors to consider when using specific forms of medication. Allergies, the correct balance, its interaction with the patient, the availability, any side effects, and if it will have the desired effect. The method of implementation in this instance would be the direct integration of a foreign and or not registered substance to the patient. Anything that is not prescribed by the doctor, or has been discussed before hand should not be given to the patient. (Holm, 1990)
